IMF: after the DSK resignation in questionable circumstances , French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde appears to be the frontrunner for the IMF job. She’s a qualified lawyer, rather than an economist and the first female finance minister in a G8 country. Since taking up the position in 2007 she has successfully steered France through the recession. She is likely to be ranked the 10th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes Slutwalk: Women dressed in underwear or any wear they chose marched from Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square in protest at the concept of teaching women to avoid being raped rather than stopping the rapists. While many women felt uneasy about the name ‘slut’ or about appearing in their undies, it certainly got attention for the simple slogan ‘No means no’. Caitlin Moran’s book How to be a Woman will be published tomorrow: She writes about her own life, what it means to be a woman in the 21st century and what new feminism stands for.
